One of the biggest athletic events in the world, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a highly regarded and profitable Twenty20 cricket competition that began as an experimental concept. Ten teams compete over two months to capture the prized trophy in this yearly championship. Seven teams have captivated fans despite the epidemic, with the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings taking home the most championships. In 2012 and 2014, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) also took home two championships. Tight games and exciting endings are two things that make the IPL famous.

IPL Winner 2023: Chennai Super Kings

Because of the severe rain in Ahmedabad, the season’s final IPL match was postponed to May 29. After winning the toss and electing to field first, GT showed resilience by making 96 runs off 47 balls for Chennai Super Kings. Because of the weather delay, Chennai’s aim was lowered to 171 runs. In an exciting inning full of action, Devon Conway and Ravindra Jadeja stood out. Conway’s opening combination with Ruturaj Gaikwad gave Chennai the upper hand. CSK defeated Mumbai Indians by five wickets, sharing the record for the most IPL titles despite Mohit Sharma’s devastating bowling.

IPL Winner 2022: Gujarat Titans

The Gujarat Titans defeated the Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in the Tata IPL 2022 championship game. During 17 matches, Yuzvendra Chahal claimed the most wickets, while Jos Buttler amassed the highest run total (863 runs). He was also named the Most Valuable Player. The Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Royal Challengers Bangalore are the teams who will compete in the postseason. With 20 points after 14 games played and 10 victories, the Gujarat Titans, captained by Hardik Pandya, are at the top of the IPL 2022 point standings.

IPL Winner 2021: Chennai Super Kings

The IPL 2021 winner is the Chennai Super Kings. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by a margin of 27 runs in the IPL 2021 Final. In the Dubai-hosted final, CSK (192/3) defeated KKR (165/9) by a margin of 27 runs. Chennai Super Kings win their fourth IPL championship after their triumph in IPL 2021. With 32 wickets in this IPl, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Harshal Patel secured the purple crown. The youngest player to win the IPL Orange Cup is presently Ruturaj Gaikwad.

IPL Winner 2020: Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have now won the IPL championship for two straight years and a total of five times. Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians contested the championship game. MI won this match by 5 wickets. This year, MI also took up the Paytm Fair Play Award. In a pandemic-affected season played in the United Arab Emirates, Mumbai Indians secured their fifth IPL title. With contributions from a balanced squad, including standout performances from Trent Boult and Ishan Kishan, they reaffirmed their status as a cricketing powerhouse.

IPL Winner 2019: Mumbai Indians

The last bowl determined the fate of the rematch between the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in the 2019 IPL final. Shardul Thakur was unable to handle Malinga’s off-cutter, which allowed Mumbai Indians to win the title a record-tying four times. The Mumbai Indians became the most successful team in IPL history with their fourth IPL triumph. Their triumph was largely attributed to Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya’s all-around efforts and Rohit Sharma’s leadership.

IPL Winner 2018: Chennai Super Kings

Ambati Rayadu and the seasoned Shane Watson guided the Chennai Super Kings, the second-winning squad in IPL history. Important assistance was given by bowling attack leader Dwayne Bravo and captain MS Dhoni. Following a two-year break, Dhoni led CSK back into the IPL in 2018, demonstrating their expertise and poise under duress while winning their third championship.

IPL Winner 2017: Mumbai Indians

With skipper Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians became the first club to win the Indian Premier League more than twice, taking home the trophy in 2013 and 2015. They were victorious over Rising Pune Supergiants in an exciting championship match, thanks in large part to the individual genius of players like Krunal Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah.

IPL Winner 2016: Sunrisers Hyderabad

In 2016, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, captained by David Warner, defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore by a margin of just 8 runs to become champions. The two players that stood out the most were Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers, who combined for four hundreds and seven half-centuries in 16 innings. The squad was the obvious winner of the orange hat for the season due to their potent batting and economical bowling, with players like Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar playing key roles.

IPL Winner 2015: Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians, with their outstanding balance, were the third team to win the title more than once. Ambati Rayadu, Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, and Simmons lead the batting group. Dwayne Bravo, who collected two more wickets than Slinga Malinga, was declared the winner of the purple hat despite Malinga’s 24-wicket haul.

IPL Winner 2014: Kolkata Knight Riders

Because of Manish Pandey’s heroics, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) became the second team to win the IPL championship several times. After reaching 660 runs in 16 innings, Robin Uthappa was awarded the orange cap, while Pandey struck a spectacular 94 from 50. Chasing 199 runs in 20 overs, KKR won their second IPL championship in 2014. Even though Kings XI Punjab scored an incredible 115 runs in just 55 balls, KKR comfortably won with three balls remaining.

IPL Winner 2013: Mumbai Indians

In 2013, Mumbai Indians, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final to win their maiden IPL title. Lasith Malinga, Mitchell Johnson, and Kieron Pollard made up a very well-balanced squad. Their triumph was largely due to Lasith Malinga’s outstanding bowling, and the team’s well-rounded roster demonstrated their skill throughout the competition.

IPL Winner 2012: Kolkata Knight Riders

In 2012, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), captained by Gautam Gambhir, defeated the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings to win their maiden IPL championship. Intending to pursue 190 runs, Bisla produced an incredible inning of 89 from 48 balls. Players like Sunil Narine and Yusuf Pathan contributed to the team’s impressive performance, which signalled a turning point for the franchise.

IPL Winner 2011: Chennai Super Kings

After beating RCB, Chennai Super Kings became the first-ever IPL team to win back-to-back finals. Their success was largely attributed to Michael Hussey’s significant innings and Murali Vijay’s 159-run partnership. 2011 saw CSK carry on their winning streak, mostly due to Dhoni’s wise leadership and the group’s blend of seasoned and up-and-coming players. Their success over Royal Challengers Bangalore was mostly due to their opening partnership of 159 runs.

IPL Winner 2010: Chennai Super Kings

After missing the first IPL title, MS Dhoni guided the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their first victory. Throughout the competition, the team—which included Dhoni himself, Suresh Raina, Mathew Hayden, Albie Morkel, and Muralitharan—faced formidable opponents. Raina’s outstanding batting display, which included a hit of 57 not out from 35, laid the groundwork for CSK’s triumph over the Mumbai Indians, captained by Sachin Tendulkar. Securing their first IPL championship, CSK scored 168 for 5 in 20 overs while holding Mumbai Indians to 146 in the same 20 overs.

IPL Winner 2009: Deccan Chargers

The Chargers, captained by Adam Gilchrist, with players like Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Symonds, and Rohit Sharma, became victorious in the Indian Premier League’s second season. They took 18 wickets thanks to the left-arm spin bowling of Pragyan Ojha. Gilchrist came in second on the season’s list of top scorers with 495 runs in 16 games. Gilchrist’s now-defunct Deccan Chargers won the Indian Premier League by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by a margin of six runs. Remarkably, the Chargers finished last in the standings during the first season.

IPL Winner 2008: Rajasthan Royals

The inaugural Indian Premier League was won by the Rajasthan Royals, captained by Shane Warne. The lineup was well-balanced, with explosive hitter Yusuf Pathan, skilful spinner Sohail Tanvir, and seasoned batsmen like Graeme Smith and Shane Watson. But Yusuf Pathan’s effort against the Chennai Super Kings in the championship game stood out in particular. With a run rate of less than a bowl, he claimed three vital wickets and quickly made a fast 56 from 39. The Chennai Super Kings, captained by MS Dhoni, were defeated by the Royals, headed by Warne.

Conclusion

Established sixteen years ago, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a prominent Twenty20 cricket league. For two months, ten teams battled for the title. There have been seven championships won by teams, the most successful being Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Since its inception in 2008, 16 IPL tournaments have taken place, with prizes awarded to the victor, runner-up, location, quantity of competing teams, Player of the Match, and Player of the Series. The tournament is renowned for its close games and thrilling finishes.
