Punjab started their campaign with a win after they scored 243/5 in 20 overs, being put in to bat. Opener Priyansh Arya scored a 23-ball 47 on his IPL debut while finisher Shashank Singh played a solid 16-ball 44 cameo to help Punjab post a big total. Chasing 245, Gujarat were off to a good start before a combined bowling effort curbed them to 232/5.
